THANK YOU to all of our Little Angels. The 2012 Little Angels calendar will be produced and available in St. Joseph's Foundation for a $10 donation. Proceeds from the sitting fees, votes, and calendar donations benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. In the past, NICU fundraising projects have been directed towards things like:
- The purchase of specialty Omni Giraffe Beds, a neonatal incubator designed specifically for thermoregulation (to sustain critical temperatures) and the reduction of environmental stimuli for the baby.
- The purchase of a fetal echocardiogram for pediatric cardiology services, enabling our perinatologists to perform EKGs on a fetus inside the womb, which in turn allows for the opportunity to identify heart problems and even correct them, before the baby is born.
- The purchase of neonatal resuscitation units for the two operating rooms, rocking chairs for breastfeeding, and specialty isolettes.
- The provision of yarn for local knitting group, the Knitwits, to create handmade blankets which are given to NICU babies.
To bring the realities of the NICU to life, we will also feature a photo of children who were actually patients in St. Joseph’s NICU in this calendar. Because of the expert care these children received in the neonatal intensive care unit, each of them lives a happy, thriving life today. Thank you to all of our generous models and NICU Alumni... our “Little Angels!”
