$480K Grant to Support Pediatrics from Local Foundation

The Antone E. & Marie F. Raymus Foundation (Raymus Foundation) was established in 1989 by Antone and Marie Raymus to help assist their community. Their vision for the future was empowered by their faith, love, and compassion for others.

The Raymus Foundation has been funding community needs for over a quarter century with millions of dollars in grants in the last year alone. They have expanded their funding focus from only San Joaquin County to the entire Central Valley.

For the last three years, the Raymus Foundation has provided grants for St. Joseph’s Medical Center that has greatly impacted our pediatric programs and their growth. In September 2022, the grant awarded ($480,197.94) was 10 times the amount of the first grant received in 2020, showing the strength of the partnership between the agencies to improve the healthcare of the community they serve.

“Both of us are committed to the health and prosperity of our communities, so if we are able to provide the tools doctors need, then we are helping the community at large,” says Alex Sugar, Raymus Foundation’s Chief Foundation Coordinator.

This grant will provide pediatric-focused equipment to address the emotional and physical aspects of caring for children in our community–a neonatal transport isolette, five handheld ultrasounds, and five fetal monitors and carts will be purchased to ensure the best care for our youngest community members.

“St. Joseph’s is a vital lifeline for children who need specialized medical care in our community. While other hospitals in the country are reducing their services to children and closing their pediatric units, St. Joseph’s is doing the exact opposite…we are committed to enhancing and expanding pediatric care in San Joaquin County,” said Dr. Marshall H. Blue, Sr. DNP, MSN, Director of Pediatric Services at SJMC.
